Comments from the President:

As your local President, I also encourage you to read & become informed on any and all issues that I ask you to support. If you do, you will be able to support and speak intelligently on that issue, not only on behalf of your union, but on behalf of your co-workers who support like causes. I desperately want all of to be informed on any issue "BEFORE " you speak out against it. If you read, or had read, this particular legislation, you would realize that has absolutely nothing about giving up your right to privacy. It does provide the right for unorganized workers to organize without fear of retaliation from management!! None of "YOU" or "US" have ever had to face this sort of intimidation, for it has all been handed to "US". So before you speak out against an issue supported by this office, know the facts & know what you are talking about . Also be prepared to defend your position with information & facts, or don't embarrass yourself with untruths or limited information on the subject at hand. In Unity ----

Dear Friend, think about this: nearly 60 million Americans would join a union if they could. But in our country the current laws make it incredibly difficult for workers to join together and bargain collectively for better wages and working conditions. Each year, thousands of American workers are fired simply for advocating a union on the job. The Employee Free Choice Act will fix this problem. One of the most important pieces of legislation of our time, it levels the playing field for America's workers and restores democracy to the workplace. Here's the bottom line: if any presidential candidate wants any shot at the support of working families, support for the Employee Free Choice Act and our other labor issues better be front and center on the the campaign trail.Visit www.cwa-cope.org/postcards to send your free postcard to the presidential candidates asking them what they will do to ensure that the Employee Free Choice Act is passed.
